I'm wondering why the weather is suddenly the government's fault. Because they were warned of flooding and didn't strengthen river defences? Fair enough then. But really, weren't we told this was to be the hottest summer on record? And look what's occurred.
Truth is, predicting the weather is now officially futile. The BBC weather website is so inaccurate for the days ahead that it would appear someone's just sticking a pin in a page of weather symbols with their eyes shut. Either that or they're just gazing out the window. Every day the weather forecast changes. So why bother to make big predictions months ahead. A new ice age could be just around the corner.
I'm off on holiday next week and just know the weather we've been having here is moving at a pace to towards Austria, which is not basking in the heatwave of central and eastern Europe. But still, it's a holiday, isn't it. I'm a fan of slate-grey skies and weather to play Scott Walker songs to, but even I've had enough of this. I could do with a bit of sun on my bones. Fingers crossed, eh?
