I had a great DVD fest over the weekend. Spirited Away, which was good, Valley Of The Dolls, which was not, A History of Violence which was marvellous, and last night Rebel Without A Cause. I haven't seen it for years and I thought it was great. It's quite sad really. Three lonely people thrown together. I'd never thought of it like that before. There's nothing more crushing than your first day at school. Everyone must think the same thing but you think it's only you who's going through it. I remember it well. It didn't last.
I quite like films about loneliness: Midnight Cowboy (my fave film ever, if you're asking), Sideways, Lost In Translation, The Whisperers, St Elmo's Fire, etc. There's almost something quite nice, even self-indulgent about it. I must say I quite like my own company. But as I've said in a previous thread, not all the time!
