Five From Five Friday

Nothing much to talk about today, and I'm off for a big long lunch, so as it's Friday, let's see what's currently cluttering up the F-C ipod.

First here's the Les Humphries Singers with their German 1972 No.2 Mexico. I think Les Humphries must be British - with a name like that he should have been on at the Batley Variety Club, but it seems he sought his fortunes on the continent instead. Try telling the singers from the TOTP-style crowd.

Now there's Sealed With A Kiss hitmaker Brian Hyland with his (dont' quote me) 1970 hit Gypsy Woman. Takes some getting used to, but it's dreamy, Silvikrin woman-leading-horses-through-sun-dappled-forests stuff.

Look! Here's something modern! It's Clap Your Hands Say Yeah with a nice bit of retro electronica Over and Over Again (Lost and Found).

From Australia, obviously, 1983, here's one for Cocktails. It's the driving power pop of Dragon with the excellent Rain.

Hankies at the ready for this next one, about a dog who's died. It's former Sha-Na-Na singer Henry Gross with the 1976 US Top Ten hit Shannon.
