What terrible news! Chris Evans is taking over the Johnnie Walker drive-time slot on Radio 2. I like the drivetime slot. It's the one bit of radio I hear during the week. I like Johnnie Walker, but I'm even more thrilled when Stuart Maconie takes over. Good music, easy manner, genuine interest in his interview subjects. His shameful talking head past is forgiven and forgotten. What a rarity - a DJ who cares about music, rather than a personality who's only interested in themselves. (See Zoe Ball, Sara Cox, Dermot O'Leary, Lisa I'Anson, Davina McCall, etc., etc.).

But now we're going to get Chris Evans. He was great in the early days, then as we all know success went to his head, he got too much money too quickly, was surrounded by yes men and generally turned into a monster. Then he went on holiday for year, came back with some ill-thought through projects which didn't do the business. TV had moved on and there was no place for him. So then it's back on the radio and an unlistenable Saturday afternoon show. If Dermot O'Leary wasn't bad enough, now it's Chris.

Has he been humbled or will he be saying that radio is his spiritual home? No doubt it's the latter. Someone like never learns the error of his ways, and every poor-me move he makes is just designed to keep him in the public eye.

It should have been Stuart. So I won't be tuning in. What about you?
