Sad songs say so much

As I was listening to Hazel O'Connor majestic Will You? on my iPod this morning, I got to thinking about sad songs. I've always loved sad songs. The more depressing the better really. Some songs actually aren't sad at all, they just make you feel that way. I'm good at sad songs. I made a tape for a friend who couldn't leave Sainsbury's carpark she was crying so much.
So here are some of my favourite reasons to be tearful:

Sisters of Mercy/Leonard Cohen

Send In The Clowns/Judy Collins
Prettiest Eyes/The Beautiful South
I Can't Make You Love Me/Bonnie Raitt
You Weren't In Love With Me/Billy Field
Withered And Died/Richard and Linda Thompson
Dimming Of The Day/Richard and Linda Thompson
Miss Murray/Linda Thompson
Has He Got A Friend For Me/Richard and Linda Thompson
All My Friends Are Back Again/Al Jones

But I Do Love You/Leanne Rimes
Sad Lisa/Cat Stevens
Rocket Man/Elton John
Theme From Hill Street Blues/Mike Post
Lydia/Dean Friedman
Save Me/Aimee Man
Underdog/Turin Brakes
Never Never/The Assembly
Special Brew/Bad Manners
Silly Woman/Bert Jansch
Catch The Wind/Donovan
Morningtown Ride/The Seekers
Don't Stop Believin/Journey
It's All in The Game/Carmel

Perhaps that's enough sad songs for now.
