Bring on the backlash!

I see Ricky Gervais hijacked his five minutes at the BAFTAs to turn the spotlight back on himself. When will this emperor's new clothes be exposed? The backlash is taking an awfully long time to come, but come it will.
He's a cruel man. When he was live by satellite at the Comedy Awards - why he was there I don't know - and humiliated Stephen Merchant by saying he was off out to dinner with Jerry Seinfeld and others, while all Merchant had was Keith Chegwin. Oh how everyone laughed - Ricky, you're so funny. But there's an edge to it. He doesn't want Merchant to become as successful as him.

So come on, backlash. Get a bloody move on, before that punchable face becomes even more so.

I was annoyed by the fact that he was still quipping even when reading out the winner.

To be honest, I found the whole thing to be rather dull. An award show too far for Ross?
It was interesting to see what Dawn from No.73 looks like these days though. Her film's got good reviews too, might have to check it out.

The backlash started with me in 1999. I haven't given up hope yet...

I haven't been so irritated since we were at the Pride of Britain awards when Richard Branson stood on a chair as he wasn't as tall as co-presenter Jodie Kidd, and drew all the attention from the real people winning an award. You could tell that the director of Happy Feet was NOT very happy at his big build-up.

I notice Gervais is still doing the 'I'm great, I've got loads of awards' shit on the ads for the Comic Relief DVD. Obviously he's got so big that nobody dares tell him that he can't really get any more obnoxious.

I'm quite pleased to see this post. I honestly thought that the entire universe loved Mr Gervais. I was never a big fan although I think I laughed once at a joke on Extras.
