Warm weatherette

Wasn't it a lovely weekend? And this from someone who prefers slate grey skies and torrential rain. But sometimes I must concede it's nice to get a bit of sun on your bones. We have a tiny yard of a garden, only about a quarter of which gets the sun and then only for a couple of hours. But if you're fair-skinned like me, this means I won't look like a keema naan and have to be hospitalised, as has happened before.

So did you have a nice weekend? When it's sunny I want to breathe the air of an English garden, walk by the sea, lie out on rugs in a park staring at the clouds going over while plugged into a Walkman (or ipod). I could do these things, but 30 minutes on regulo 5 and feeling the sweat trickle into my ears is enough for me. Still, mustn't grumble.

The perfect soundtrack for a sunny day, especially if you're pottering (I love pottering - feel free to call me Harry), is any bossa nova, which is obvious really. Although bossa nova really lifts my sprits, unless you're in the sun, or eating outside, there's little point listening to it. I've got a great CD i got in Japan called We Love Bossa Nova. It was everywhere and I was intrigued. Not that I'd never heard of it before, but it's not very Japanese, is it. Anyway, it's is as summery as it sounds. And it's only April!

On Saturday night we went to some friends in Camberwell, and yes, we sat outside, first ignoring the very loud braying media-type bbq where very loud hip-hop was played to an appreciative crowd of sheep, then laughter when someone realised no one really likes hardcore hip-hop and put on Five Star - on vinyl. That's the when the party really took off and the gentle bossa nova we'd pitched into battle with the hip-hop was silenced for Nik Kershaw and the Human League, and we all got very, very drunk.
