Stormy weather

I think being obsessed with the weather if perfectly natural, don't you? After all, we have so much of it, and it's so changeable there's a lot to think about. I mean one just doesn't know what to wear on days like today. One minute it's hot, the next it's clouding over and there are thunderstorms on the way.

I love a good thunderstorm. In Baltimore we had the most almighty thunderstorm I've ever seen. While this was going on over breakfast the waitress said:

"Ooh, thunder. I don't like it all. Do you?"

"I love it,' I piped up. "We don't get them like this at home."

"Actually, I'm from Ethiopia and I've seen entire villages wiped out by storms," she said, dampening the moment.

There's no answer to that. "Oh dear" doesn't really cut it.

But I do love a good storm, providing no one gets hurt. You can't say anything without putting your foot in it these days, something I seem to do rather a lot. Then again, it's not my fault if I like the a certain band but their manager raped your best friend. Or you're being a nightmare at the moment because you've got a kid with an incurable genetic disease. How was I to know?

People are difficult thesedays.
