The last episode of Doctor Who seems to have caused a bit of a stir. Died-in-the-wool fans seem to have hated it. I thought it was quite good. What am I not seeing that the fans are?
I liked Doctor Who as a child - my first memory of the show is Patrick Troughton fighting off Cybermen. Then came the scary Jon Pertwee years and the silly Tom Baker years, and when he went I was about 13 so it was time to stop.
But I've really loved it since it got revived. Not mad on Freema, but I liked David Tennant and I really liked that episode about the statues. It was properly scary and if I'd been eight years old I'd never have looked at another statue ever again.
On the whole, I think the whole thing's been a triumph. John Simm is great as the master, and the guest stars generally are top notch. I find John Barrowman irritating though. And he's the Face of Boe? Pah!
The trouble with fans is they think too hard. Or am I missing the point. Fans tell me. What did you think of the finale?

Well I see no one cares enough about it to comment. Fair enough.
That's what comes from something being so over-hyped and up it's own behind!
I do!! I've stuck with all this series, and I was BOOO-RED with the last ep, especially the fact that Martha won't be back as a regular as I thought she was fantastic (we've both realised there's no point in hanging on to unrequited love). Who's the next assitant? Kylie Minogue? Nikki off of Big Brother? Lionel Blair?
It was a real one for fans - personally, I enjoyed the historic episodes and the one done in real-time best this series - and am I alone in really liking Captain Jack?
Doc W was compulsive viewing at first, with Eccleston and well into the first Tennant series. Then it went into the 'won't matter if I miss one' category.
I then realised I'd lost interest completely.
It happened with Life on Mars too. Now it's happening with Jekyll...
American show hold my attention though..
I liked the episode and like Captain Jack. Therefore I am best.
It's a mixed bag isn't it. I know what you mean about Jekyll though FR.
I'm desperately sorry I didn't comment, but I hate Doctor Who so didn't watch it. In fact, I think the last time I watched it was when Tom Baker was in it. I was never scared of it as a child, I was more scared of the scraping sound the legs made on my parents' 'Saturday-night-carpet-picnic-in-front-of-the-telly' table. That was enough to frighten even the most fearless souls. In fact, they were so loud, I'm surprised you never used to hear them at your house back in the mid-late 70s.
Besides, it gives me enormous satisfaction knowing that everyone's talking about something I didn't see and haven't even a passing interest in.
Anyway, 5C, do you think Forest will get promoted this year?
Having said that, I always find your posts, whatever the subject, completely brilliant. I reckon you could make a go of this writing lark if you put your mind to it.
In fact, in fit of boredom at work the other week, I sat and read your blog entries right from the very beginning. Much more entertaining than work, and laugh-out-loud funny to boot.
Well Rich you're too kind. May I say how entertaining I find your blog too?
I got the feeling no one was interested in it, which is plainly not the case.
Anyhoo, I'm toying with controversy again in my next post.
