Regionalia!

Taking my lead from Louis Barfe's blog, from holidays in the West Country, who remembers this?

Where I came from, it was this:

For Mrs F-C, it was Channel TV, which even YouTube can't provide.

My personal favourite, especially when, excitingly, It took over from Thames at 5.15 on a Friday afternoon. The weekend really did start here:

We have an inate fondness for these in Britain. Sadly they no longer exist. Enjoy both parts of this ident megamix:

FC - Channel TV is in the megamix pt 1 around the 4 minute mark.

Where I lived it was this Monday to Friday (wait for the theme tune afterwards, it's where Jamiraqoui got his signature sound)

And if Children Of The Stones wasn't scary enough already this hubble bubble motif was the ident before the intro.

I've seen a few of those seventies inhouse/Xmas TV tapes that used to do the rounds, there's one where some joker has modified the Anglia horse with tin foil - to give it an 'inflammed' look.

I was a 'Thames' girl too. I was about eighteen before I finally twigged that the view depicted cannot possibly exist.

The LWT one was great, like funky toothpaste.

Whenever I hear Thames I hear the opening bars of Magpie or The Sweeney.

And that HTV one I always think of Afternoon Plus with Mavis Nicholson.

A child of the BBC here. To me Thames is that watery thing.

ATV reminds me of a Communist era short wave radio service sig. tune, especially if you play it a few times back to back.

However it doesn't seem right without the Crossroads theme starting up straight after it;

And good old Anglia. The long version with the silver knight beats the Westward silver ship every time. The short Anglia version is at it's best when followed by.."And now, from Norwich, it's the quizoftheweek.."

Happy days.

I'm sorry to say that the modern versions of the themes were mostly rubbish, as were the lamentable space age graphics. What a bloody old reactionary I've become.

I completely agree with everything you say, OP.
