A new day dawns

After yesterday's knife crime rant, the day unfolded with a quick-as-a-flash backtrack by Jacqui "Jackie" Smith over sending the knifer to visit the knifee in casualty once everyone had decided it was A Bad Idea. We could have told you that Jacqui!

Much more sensible measures were rolled out instead, like targetting nasty parents and their mean kids (whom they've already identfied - one assumes from police files) and making them be responsible for a change. About bloody time. This can only be a good thing. May I volunteer my services? I'm just the right side of passive agressive and I take no prisoners.

Also good to hear was a kind of 'national service', meaning working in the community, which you can imagine you average, feckless, teeth-kissing thug would just hate. The shame. As long as it's enforceable I'm all for this too.

So that's better, then.
