Isn't it about time there was a revival of kitchenware that features drawings? You know, bunches of herbs on storage jars, wheatsheaves on toasters and tiles with pairs of fish on. That sort of thing.
Did you have anything like this at home? I recall a whole range in the F-C kitchenette of yesteryear, which included tea and coffee jars and even trays with pictures of bouquets of herbs, almost cartoonish in style, on them. They don't make this kind of thing anymore do they.
Well why not? Once you could get your entire kitchen range like this. Admittedly some it's ghastly, but in principle, I think it's a good idea. We do have a lot of this at home. Some lovely casserole dishes with 1960s vegetables on them, bowls with stylised grapefruit slices on them, that sort of thing. Mrs F-C is big on retro kitchenware.
I think I might bring out my own range. Any ideas?

Be careful what you wish for here, F-C - surely the last thing we need is a revival of the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady commemorative toaster 'phenomenon'.
And at the other extreme you've got the eerie supernatural powers of those plates in The Owl Service...

We always wondered that if they did kitchen stuff with pix on it, why not bathroom wallpaper with pictures of toilets and tubes of Preparation H on?
I'll go better than a picture. I inherited my Mum's onion and beetroot jars which were in the shape of their respective veggies but but with gnome-like faces and the name (should you forget what's in them) emblazoned across them. Still, they keep my Humphries milk glass, Fred (the flour grader) flour sifter and 1970s Radio 2 mug company.
Clair, bathroom wallpaper (can it still be got?) should feature sea shells, and be matched with the light green emulsion painted laundry box...
F-C - you could bring out the Bistro Range of cookery cockery. As for kitchen decor, recipe wallpaper is my big fave.
Wallpaper featuring u-bends, taps and ointments is not as comforting or as inviting as chickens or piles of muesli, though, is it Clair?
Of course, if you invent it, they will come.
Here's a fabulous selection. Hostess Tableware, that's what we want. Or those weird orange glass sets that came as standard on Canvas Holidays/Eurocamp trips.
Crockery all began to go wrong with Eternal Beau, though.
Have got some fab placemats with lovely photos and lots of brown and orange background wallpaper featuring some really challenging recipes like 'Fried Lamb Chops with Marjoram'. The title sort of tells you what it is and how to make it!
I knew you'd come up with something, Kitten. I quite like that roulette pattern. And that snack tray is a shoe in for Spindles amuse bouches.
Like the sound of those table mats, Hels.
We had some place mats with doggys' faces on once, but they were very cheap, and after a while the hot plates burned big brown rings on their little happy features. It all got a bit distressing, and they had to be thrown away.
My Mum should have chosen a barley, hazelnut and apple design.
Hello FC. I'm still reading but don't often get the chance to comment until the evening, by which time everyone's had their say. Today is different however. I'd like to see a reinstatement of toilet roll covers that look like dolls. Please FC. Make it so.
