Back To Life

After a brief sojourn to see how the other live, I've decided to return here. It was very kind of TVCream to host me, but I felt I couldn't be myself like I can on here. I felt a bit built up and the hype didn't justify the end product. There was also the added problem of being called a misogynist and starting things off as a national hate figure, if I may be so grand. They didn't get me.

So how I'm here and I think I can relax. And I'm going back to the old design too. It's far more restful.

People don't like change, do they.

National hate figure? Get over yourself, you tedious man.

Fuck you, whoever you are.

I think it works better over here, too. It was way too garish on TV Cream.

When were you misogynist? I missed that one. Is there a bandwagon I can jump on?

It's when I was talking about Holly Willoughby. The abuse was pompous, high-handed nonsense. And yes, for a moment there, I was a national hate figure, right anon?

Ah, there you are.

When you went off with that brightly dressed young thing, I said to myself 'It won't last, you know. It won't. Even though it's hard to believe it right now, he'll soon get bored of being uploaded and refreshed every 30 minutes and he'll be back'.

Well, welcome back. I hope after your little adventure you'll appreciate what you've got at home a bit more, hmm, eh, hm?

Aren't people rude by the way. Some of the comments to yourself, Andrew Collins and on behalf of Richard Herring to others over the past couple of weeks would be punchable in real life. Shocking.

And it's especially poor form considering how metro-reasonable everyone purports to be at other times, when it's an issue that doesn't get their goat.

Liberals my arse.

Well, I'm pleased you're back here. It's just so much more friendlier and that colour scheme was just assaulting my eyes.

I agree OP, people get so worked up about nothing, it's completely absurd.
Thanks for coming back everyone.

It's good to have you back where you belong - in isolated brusque splendour.

Did you see this?

Hi, Ben here, who less complained and more pointed out the potential effect of such statements on TV Cream's overall fanbase. I was told you were bringing this up again and so I thought I should defend the "pompous, high-handed nonsense" which I do think was more reasoned than you're giving credit for.

Granted your readers here will defend you as they should but I certainly didn't get "worked up" on TVC and have no objection to change there or elsewhere. Your blog has been very enjoyable for the most but when you write something contentious, don't get surprised when people bite back.

Calling yourself as a "national hate figure" though is like describing a boy on a bandstand with a broken kazoo as "King of Pop".

Welcome back; this site is nicer to look at. And I have a link on this one! Huzzah.

Irony is lost on some people, isn't it?

Thanks Ben, and thanks for your earlier anonymous comments.

Now if you don't like it - and you clearly don't - piss off.

I like it when people bite back, but most don't take things so personally, getting offended on behalf of people everywhere. It's not necessary. And don't flatter yourself; it's not just about you.

Chris what's the end of that link, it's cut off.

I apologise wholeheartedly for the anonymous comment, left in a pique of genuine spur of the moment "grrs" which was a very charmless thing to do. As I said though, I LIKE your blog, just had a problem with one post. Granted, I appreciate it wasn't - or isn't now - all about me. Just felt I should defend myself a little as I was clearly part of that you spoke of.

I'm not spoiling for a fight here, honestly. Just didn't want to be painted as an Abe Simpson type who goes round being a knob about people's work when I do feel I had a valid point.

That's all there is - if you can't see it, it's linked from the front of Media Guardian.

Anyway, basically it's the Readers' Editor of the Guardian responding to the Richard Herring "row" you blogged about last week, which contains the revelation that 150 "Richard Herring sympathisers" (what a thought) contacted the paper about that piece.

Welcome back, Jon. Glad to see you got rid of that silly tagline. When I complained before that it didn't make any sense, you told me I was thick.

I was going to leave a comment when you moved, as I though being page 2 on on another site buried your identity. I decided against, as it seemed less than supportive.

I'm glad you changed your mind.

This could be the rightest thing you've ever done, aside from purchasing Twilight Cafe.

Jon Peake said...

Thanks all. Let's get back to normal. And don't call me by my real name, anon!

Well, the job is going. King of Pop I mean, not national hate figure.

Ooh, sorry, boss, I'll try to remember not to do it again!
