To Twitter or not to Twitter?
I was talking with some friends last night, some Twitterers, some not, and they were all urging me to Twitter.
So far I've managed to resist, a) because I fear I'll get obsessed and it will take up all my time, and b) what I read and see of Twitter and its followers I don't really like. That world is full of showboats or people who want to be friends with Stephen Fry, it seems.
But then again it might be fun. I know some regular readers here Twitter, so what do you think? Would you be interested in F-C tweets? Would you care for example, if I suddenly tweeted that after listening to Quo's Burning Bridges I realise how much I like pop songs that incorporate jigs and reels in a rock style? Or that Andrew Castle looks dreadfully ill? Or that I once bought a beautiful handmade coffee table off Mary Tamm?
I mean really, who cares? I know everyone's rushed to do it for fear of being left behind by the Next Big Thing, and you know it's a fad that will fade into normal usage, but I don't know. My finger's hovered over the 'join us' button several times, but I've never gone all the way...

Obviously everyone else is going to say no (and roll out the now standard It's A Load Of Rubbish Who Cares What's In Your Sandwich Blah Blah argument against Twitter) but I'll declare that I would like some concentrated 140-character bursts of F-C brusqueness during my working day.
David Hepworth is on Twitter and he's very good at it. If he's doing it then there's no reason why F-C shouldn't.
I'm afraid that even the thought of delightfully brusque and scintillating updates from yourself throughout the day will not convince me to go on twitter.
Not for me. Any more voices and I'll combust.
I cancelled my Twitter account, being someone who prefers to opine at length about stuff. Plus, I got a job where I wasn't able to prat about on the internet so much.
Twitter is what you make it. Following Stephen Fry is not compulsory and if you find someone annoying/dull you can always unfollow them.
However, unless you are an under stimulated office worker, you may find it a time waster....
Not for me - and Facebook updates are pretty much the same thing. Why not try a Tweet and see how it goes.
And what was all that silly business about on The Word blog yesterday - ridiculous, the pair of 'em.
I'm on it and must confess to being a big fan; met some nice new people through it too. Why not give it a whirl, you can always delete...I'm @danworth, if you're interested.
Oh, go on and sign up, FC. Getting bored with it is a far more likely outcome than becoming obsessed, and even if you do get bored after a fortnight, we who Tweet already will get a couple of weeks' worth of brusquery from you to enjoy.
Alright, I'll give it a go, but probably next week.
And if you do get bored, get your Auntie Barbara to come on instead.
Well I did it. I've not tweeted yet, but it's @FiveCentres.
I'm on it but rarely use it these days, I feel like I'm being unfaithful to Facebook.
I enjoy Twitter hugely, and would be thrilled to see you there. No, really.
