Make me a pallet on your floor

I must say, everyone's gone rather quiet round these parts. Not comments wise, but updating your blogs.

Let's look down the blogroll.

When was the last time we heard from Cocktails? Three weeks ago! Did she meet everyone and think better of it? We've heard not a peep.

And ISBW, busy being a leading light of the Brighton and Hove literary belt, means updates are few and far between, though they are least weekly.

Valentine Suicide has posted today - hooray! But posts as rare as ginger nuns.

Modern Gutnish is too preoccupied shouting at the telly, Mondo is lost in music except for Fridays when he shares it with us, and Clair is off at one groovy arts do after another and is clearly too exhausted to post regularly.

Roman Empress, now Queen Margot, is once in a blue moon. And what happened to you Does That Make Sense? I know you've been busy, but I miss your very lengthy blog entries. And as for Red Scharlach! It's been two weeks! Avenues and Alleyways five and Let's Look Sideways a staggering eight months!

Has the novelty of blogging finally worn off? Are putting away childish things? We all know it can be a chore to update at times, and it's better not to say anything at all than bang on about nothing, like I do. But surely we can't all be losing interest at the same time? It seems it's only me, OP and Dan Worth filling dead air on a daily basis.

This month is the fourth anniversary of this blog and I can't believe I've kept it up for so long. I do wonder how much longer I can be bothered, and while I've had my flounces and shutdowns I'm not about to run out of steam just yet (sorry to disappoint).

So what's going on? Do tell. I'm missing you.

Here's a nice song from the Seventies to get you scribbling again. It's nothing to do with anything, I just felt like it.

What is this?! A Daily Mail style name and shame?!

Well, yes, I have been quiet and I've been very well aware of it. I'm not bored of blogging. I'm just busy - long hours at work, conferences, courses, a bad cinema-going habit to maintain...

I was thinking of writing something today actually. But perhaps I won't now - just to spite you.

*flounces off*

Don't flounce! I'm just concerned. I'm not chiding anyone.

Oh ok, might post something then. Fingers crossed!!

I happened to have blogged today prior to seeing this. My life is busy and in no way interesting, simple as!

As you know, when I had a job that largely consisted of reading papers, going to the pub, going off to see Alan Titchmarsh and drinking tea, I could post three times a day. Now I have a Real Job, I can't. Also, I made a policy decision not to be quite so personal on the blog, as it got me into a bit of hot water. I still love to blog, but I do find it hard to find subjects to write about these days. There's a lot I'd like to say, but it's going in the novel.

Well can't wait for that novel Clair. That should be a good read.

I hesitate to add what I know will sound like a petulant whine, but I've had a shit few months.

Gas and water leaks just before Christmas meant the house became a building site for weeks, then hubby came off his bike in January, smashing his shoulder socket in four and his humerus in three. This has meant a great round of hospital appointments, (while they decide whether to replace the whole joint or not) and a six weeks of broken sleep and general grimness. Then two weeks ago my desktop computer crashed spectacularly, though our genius Mac engineer pal managed to retrieve all our stuff last night (including my terrible 'novel'. Not sure whether I'm pleased about that or not.).

It's not exactly life in Port au Prince, I realise, and my poor blog has been badly neglected. I'm off on a training course next week so will be even quieter, but after that I should have a bit more to say for myself. Don't give up on us, baby.

Ok, I've posted something.

I hope you're happy now.

I don't want to take the fun out of it, Cocktails.

No, I've missed it myself. And I'm flattered that you've missed my moaning.

Isn't it better that people post on their blogs when they really have something to say, rather than posting regularly for the sake of it? The joy of blogging for me is that there are no deadlines and no mediation. I can just throw what I think out there, but I have to be thinking something first. I don't feel a sense of obligation (oblogation?) to post.

Jon Peake said...

That's what I say in my original post, Louis, and I agree. It seems I've just got far too much say. And all about nothing much.

Bright Ambassador said...

Sorry. I've not got much to say at the minute. And have you been spying on me? I do shout at the telly. Lots. I find that my tolerance for people in the public eye is reaching an all time low and would love to blog about who I hate on certain days, but that'd soon get boring, wouldn't it?

I'm starting drumming lessons next week, so watch out for a blog post about that farce.

DRUM LESSONS!!????

That's made my day.

I know I've been remiss, and WILL try and do better. My life isn't especially busy, but it's all about prioritising your free time. There's no chance for me to even think about it, let alone doing it during the day.

When I'm at home, I have guitars that have to be 'played', and dogs that have to be walked. Then there's all those naked women on the internet that have to be looked at.

DRUM LESSONS?

Bright Ambassador said...

Yeah, go on, laugh the drum lessons. We'll see whose laughing when I'm as good as this. Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Or perhaps as good as this:

...which is the more likely outcome. And I've got bigger tits.

Well, that's just typical. It's always the naughty ones who get all of the attention.

Here I am chiding you all for not posting and I'm not posting for the next two days. But I have my reasons.

Glad you're becoming the new Cozy Powell, BA>

I used to live next door to a retirement home for Irish nuns. The majority of them are indeed ginger.
Yes, such a place does genuinely exist.

A whole nunnery of gingers, Amy. How unusual.
