A couple of people have now told me how much they enjoyed Daddy Cool, the musical based on the hits of Boney M. Now, not being a musicals fan per se, they don't appeal. However, I loved Boney M as a youngster - who didn't in 1977? So I could almost be tempted.

I got their Take The Heat Off Me album from Mum and Dad for Christmas that year. The cover showed them all without a stitch on and in chains. Mum and Dad said nothing at the time - well, I was a late developer. Anyhoo, I recently downloaded all their big hits from itunes and what a treat they are. Never mind they don't really sing them - or do they? - they're all top notch. Who wouldn't enjoy Sunny, Ma Baker and the rollicking Painter Man?

That said, how on earth do you shoehorn the likes of Belfast into a musical. A song with a political edge manque - it wouldn't sit well would it? Perhaps they leave it out. Also, what would Michelle Collins be like. Didn't she have a single out once? She's a lovely woman and she once backed Mari Wilson (which makes her at least 45), but I can't see it. And it's got Javine and Harvey in it.

So you know what? Much as I like the M, I think I'll give it a miss.

You know you'd love it, especially when the massive parrot descends into the audience at the end of the show, where it's been looming menacingly (and rather obviously) on the ceiling. We sat next to Aldo Zilli on the first night, who kept crooning to his rather too young wife. Silly old git.
