Swedish rhapsody

Easter's over and I'm raring to go. Being back at works is suprsingly okay, probably because I feel energised and it seems like I've been off for ages.

We had a super time in Stockholm, where the temperature was no more than four degrees and it even snowed. I can't tell you how thrilled I was. I'm not one for hot weather and I prefer to holiday in a cold climate. We did a lot of walking, rested up, ate loads of really good food, immersed ourselves in the best of Swedish design and floated about in our hotel suite. It was perfect. And all after 11 years of marriage too. We are never bored.

If you've been to Stockholm you will know it's very chic in parts, ultra-modern, so stylish, not too touristy, everyone speaks English, and I mean everyone, it has some beautiful buildings, great bars and restaurants and good shops. The other side of it is the centre is very concretey and bits of it can look quite bleak. We went out to the islands, and it's a mix of lovely, cosy wooden houses, very modern design apartments and nasty old council blocks painted sickly colours, with a backdrop of either a placid deep blue lake and tree covered mountains, or an oil refinery. A real mix. But contrary to popular belief not expensive. London prices, though if you're not used to London prices this may come as a shock.

Also, they take Easter very seriously in Sweden, more so than any place I've been before. Everyone's houses are decorated and the shops are full of merry junk. Here it seems is just an aisle of chocolate eggs in Sainsbury's and that it. It's strange for such a secular country.

Anyhoo, being back at work isn't so bad. Of course this feeling will not last.
