500th post!

I've been neglectful of late, but I have excuses as I've been very busy with work stuff. Next week is the event of the year and it requires all my energy. Plus, I'm offloading CDs like a demon on eBay - they're going amazingly well - and I've been all over The Word forum too - people actually comment on posts there.

Last Saturday, I went to see REM at Twickers with my mate TT. They were great - I'm such a fan and I've never seen them. Even the new stuff sounded good. I'm listening to nothing but them at the moment. I went home and downloaded everything I didn't have and I realised it was far more than I'd thought.

I've also attended a funeral in a woodland, part of Epping Forest actually. It was beautiful, but so deeply sad. The woman who died was a work colleague, and she was but 41. Her five-year-old daughter gave a speech - yes - at the funeral and believe you me there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Then you follow the coffin, which was made of wicker or hemp, into the woods. The spot was gorgeous. I half expected fawns and bunnies to be poking their heads through the undergrowth. The light was amazing. So once the coffin's been laid to rest, you all file past the greave and throw a flower into it. It was all rather lovely, really. I'll never forget it.

Anyhoo, on a lighter note, I'm coming up to my 500th post. Can you believe that. Either I've had a ridiculous amount of free time on my hands, or I've been utterly dedicated. You decide.

But I thought by way of celebration I'd do a selection of covers featuring favourite subjects of the blog, you know, like Empire or the Radio Times do.

So I'm thinking:

Dr Hilary Jones
Mrs F-C
Emma Watson
The Marmalade
A bistro
Fiona Phillips
The Urban Woo
A cylcist
Richard & Linda Thompson
Polly Brown
Everybody Loves Raymond

Any more?

So I'm not going to lie, I'm going to be very sporadic. Just grabbing a few mins where I can. I Mrs F-C is back from Prague tonight. Hooray!

Wow. To be in the same company as the Dear Lady Wife and The Marmalade (ex-Dean Ford and the *snigger* Gaylords), I consider myself very honoured, speshly as you got me into this blogging lark in the first place - posted entry 716 yesterday, so clearly I have even more time on my pallid, uncalloused, workshy hands.

There should be dancing in the streets to celebrate your 500th post. Let's all swing down the King's Road with our military jackets on!

I've had my blog for 4 years and am only up to 487 posts, so you're much chattier than me.

So do tell FC, did you get to meet Bernard Cribbins, then?

Yes I did. He's very sprightly considering.

I went to a similar funeral (for a university friend) at an ecologically-sound burial park in Norwich a couple of months back. It was quite the loveliest funeral I've ever attended. I think I know where I want to be planted.
