Let's talk about your cat

Q: What do the following have in common?:

Rupert Penry Jones
Rob Brydon
Stacey's mum
Steve McQueen (The Hunger one, obviously)
Michael Sheen (I had no idea he was Welsh)
Tracey Emin
Will Young (Tall)
Freema Agyeman
Kevin Whately
John Simm
The Friendly Fires (Spoke to the guitarist. Never heard of them)
(Sir) Ben Kingsley (Luvviest speech ever)
Tom Stoppard
Ken Russell
Vic Reeves (In suit he'd made himself) & inevitable wife
Ronnie Corbett
Alexander Armstrong
Arlene Phillips
Penelope Wilton
Mike Leigh (Arms around Liz Smith)
Craig Cash
Ken Loach (Right on!)
Gerald Scarfe and Jane Asher (Laughed all the way through Kingsley's speech)
Razorlight (Did a number. Dull)
Elbow
Nigel Kennedy (I went to loo in his performance)
Michael Ball (sang, beautifully)
James Corden (Smaller than me! And very pleasant)
Joanna Page (Just like Stacey)
Trevor Nunn
Julian Rhind-Tutt
Steven Mangan
Brenda Blethyn
Twiggy (Tiny)
Lulu (Tinier)
Ronnie Wood (Like a cartoon character)
Rachel Stevens (Really tiny)
Melvyn Bragg (Avuncular)
David Suchet (Not going to the RT party)
and loads of theatre directors, artists, sculptors, dancers who I've never heard of

A: I saw them all - and talked to quite a few - at the South Bank Show Awards yesterday.

I'm dashing into a meeting, so more later.

Excessive name-dropping even for you, F-C...
So, which of the above did you speak to? And what are your thoughts on Melvyn Bragg? I can never quite decide whether he's a good idea or not.

My office mate would like to know if you spoke to Rupert Penry-Jones and if so, whether he is nice.

I didn't speak to RPJ, Kitten, as I didn't see him more than once. Rumour has it he's okay.

I did speak to Tracey Emin (about Cats, Will Young, James Corden, Joanna Page and Nick Park.

Others in attendance were Bryn Terfel, Lesley Garrett, Emilia Fox, Michael McIntyre (whom I also spoke to) and Elaine Paige.

I enjoyed seeing Tom Stoppard, Ronnie Wood and Vic Reeves having a fag, and nearly falling over Lulu chatting with Twiggy.

I'll see all that lot and I'll raise you a Bradley Walsh on Saturday night.
Ha-ha, I've trumped all of yours. I win.

Good heavens. Are you trying to trump Andrew Collins, F-C? I certainly think you've won this one. That'll teach him to drop you from his blogroll.

But, no sign of Emma Watson's norks? Tsk. I could imagine MB giving a good speech about them.

Jon Peake said...

Sadly no Watson norks, OP. Otherwise, I would have asked to be her boyfriend, because as we all know she doesn't have one.

I'm adding more names as they come to me. I don't think I've ever been to such a brilliantly star-studded event, and I've been to hundreds of awards ceremonies.

Presumably you spoke to The Sheen, then? Did you ask him if he'd be willing to play you in Five-Centres: The Movie (he'd be very good)?

Jon Peake said...

Well Chris I didn't but of course if I'd thought of it...

It's either him or Will Ferell.
