The post with no name

As I turned the corner of my road this morning, I saw a woman lying across the other lane. A crowd of people were gathered around her panicking on mobile phones. She'd just been knocked down and she was lying very still.

I felt awful as I was in the car and wondering why there was all this traffic blocking the way out of my cul-de-sac so I squizzled up the bus lane and then into the road. When I saw her I realised I'd run over her hessian bag for life which was in my lane. Not with my wheels, but the car went over it. By then it was too late to pull over and there were loads of people buzzing around. She had long blonde hair and a brown top. She looked to be in her late twenties. I wonder if she's a neighbour.

Anyway, I feel terrible about it. I hope she's okay. Mrs F-C is off today so I dispatched her to have a look, but so far, no reports.

And it was shaping up to be such a nice day.

Gosh. It's awful when something like that happens, and it's often impossible to find out what happened next unless it was serious enough to make the local news.

Reports are filtering through that two women were knocked over by a runaway lorry outside my office at lunchtime.
