Hat's not it at all

First of all, the name change wasn't a success. I've mulled it over, so have you, and so F-C is back, and I'm kind of glad really.

Now, let's talk about hats. I saw a guy wearing a hat this morning and it's clear they either suit you or they don't. For me, they don't.

There's a certain amount of confidence that comes with being able to carry a hat off, and I just don't have it. It's like I'm not a sunglasses person either, or a beard man.

Put a trilby on me and I'm less Justin Timberlake, more Eddie Wareing. In a baseball cap I'm more Charlie Brown than Tarantino, and woolly hats on me make Crossroads' Benny look like Noel Fielding. (Actually, does anyone look good in a woolly hat? Badly Drawn Boy looks like Dave Lee Travis).

No, I've got the wrong shaped head, obviously. In a cap, I look crap. In a boater, I'm a bloater.

So I must regretfully accept that I'll never wear a fedora with elan, never sport a tam-o'-shanter with style and perching a pork pie hat upon my head will never happen. A pork pie on it's own - now that's more me.

Oh well, at least I've got hair. That'll have to do.

I love a nice hat, me.

I toyed with a beard between Christmas and New Year, and felt it gave a pleasing counterpoint to my youthful features.

But ultimately I don't like being all hairy and scratchy, so I shaved it off.

A couple of days and I'm scratching myself to death, I don't know how people stand it.

A beard will not enhance your youth or beauty Chris. Stay as you are.

I'm the same....my head must have got wider as I've got older. Every hat I try has to be at maximum stretch to get it down to my ears, and I've never found a single pair of sunglasses that fit or sit properly.

Glad to see the back of those fleecy court jester hats that were everywhere a few years back though.

Can anyone wearing glasses look good in a hat?

>t m, If sunglasses count I think David Bowie can pull it off. Compare and contrast etc with the spandexed one.

My beard comes and goes. In winter, it's a welcome buffer against the chill wind of the east coast, in summer, it's a bloody liability.

I've experimented with a beard a little lately; sadly, a large quantity of my friends, family and colleagues (ie, everyone) told me I looked hideous. Well, one or two female colleagues complemented me, but they were probably joshing.

As for hats, I wear a "Benny" hat frequently as football terracing can be a mite bracing at this time of year and (snore) given that most of yuour body heat escapes through your head in chillier climes, it's always recommended that you sport something on colder days. Baseball caps expose my dreadful haircut.

I also have a faux-suede stetson thing for special outdoor occasions. No, really. And there are not photographs available...

To survive a WA summer, hats (wide-brimmed of course) and sunglasses are a must
