Five "Two Tons Of Fun" Centres

Spam never fails to amuse me. Now we've got a super-efficient spam-catcher at work it's awash with junk from the most fantastic made-up names. If only theres people were real - who wouldn't want to know somene called Lloyd "Champagne" Henderson? With a name like that he can only be no end of fun.

But what would a selection of the others be like?

There's Irish crooner Johnnie "Tipperary" Hopkins, puts Josef Locke in the shade - and he tells jokes.

What about whip-smart geology professer Jeanette "Seismology" Sanderson. Earthquakes are her middle name!

Kelsey "Persuasion" Overton is bookish, with a sly side, while former child star Marcia "Squirt" Tuttle (star of Oh No! It's the Marcia Tuttle Show!), is now a washed-up alcoholic with a string of broken relationships behind her.

And don't cross Arline "Blaze" Ogden. There's a fire in her belly that just can't be tamed.

Who's coming next, I wonder?

PS Do you like my new look? Coffee??

Is your Mr Henderson any relation to this man?

I was wondering about her. She was lots of fun, wasn't she?

Hum. Transgender typos, eh?

Perhaps I was thinking of Evelyn 'Champagne' Waugh...

The best name in my spam box today is Roosevelt Rutherford, who sounds like a disgraced colonial ambassador.

I got some spam the other day which announced 'Elton John killed in rocket ship'. A big surprise to those of us unaware that Elt was even actively involved in the space programme.

My favourite recent spam name was Carson Frost, who I think sounds like an American weatherman.

I had one this morning which announced "Nelson Mandela Found Dead On His Birthday", and was apparently from one "Shayla Tickles".

He's not dead, is he??

No, ISBW. I had one the other day that said 'Tom Cruise killed in a plane crash'.

Of course when a celeb does die, we won't believe it.

Now THAT'S the Five Centres wrapper I remember from the late 60s ahem, super stuff.
Oh and Tom Champagne used to be the signatory of the Readers' Digest millionaire prize draws 20 years ago. Perhaps still is. He used to write to me regularly, even though I would never write back.

Yes, spam with 'shock' headlines do seem to be chic - I got one at work saying something horrific about Angelina Jolie's newborn twins. And yet they're all still selling Viagra - it's not as if they've moved on to another product.
